First look outside on Friday morning and the sky was completely clear so we headed out to the Airport and arrived just before the Terrace opened at 9am and as it was still frosty we spent the morning popping in and out of the glazed enclosure sitting on the seats at the windows which gives an excellent view in the warm of everything taxiing down.

On the first look there was a Gulf Air A330 parked remote just up from Cargo and not long later a Continental 767-400 arrived, both of these were Frankfurt diversions due to fog and before midday they both taxied past the deck in perfect conditions for photos.

The best visitor of the day was probably the Khalifa A319 that arrived just before midday but was a frustrating 3 hours on the ground before leaving and this was just in time with the sun getting lower on the horizon, following not long behind it was the West Air HS748 that was parked up for 2 days and the daily Malev Express CRJ that leaves for Budapest at 3-25pm.

Other interesting ones during the day were:- Tyrolean CRJ, Eurolot ATR42, Ghana DC10, LGW DO228, Atlas International 757, Cronus 737, Macedonian 737 and Team Lufthansa Dash8-400.

As the light was fading now we made our way to the Main Terminal and on to the viewing deck arriving just in time for the Egypt Air A300 pushing back and after that it was off to the restuarant for some food and to wait for darkness to come for more night shots.

Complete darkness is about 6pm at this time of the year leaving 2 hours before the Terrace closes and again like the previous night it was really cold with a strong breeze so care had to be taken to shelter the Tripod from the wind to avoid camera shake and again it was a quite successful tactic as I had very few blurred photos.

As it was winter that wasn't a great deal of variety and certain Stands are more difficult than others for views after they have pushed back and detatched the tug so I took a few shots of ones actually parked on Stand with the best views for them being on the right hand side of the Terrace as you enter it (where the Austrian A320 below was).

Unlike day time shots I think that night ones tend to look better with a lot of clutter around them with the activity showing up well and the shot of the Lufthansa A321 D-AISE below (2nd row in the middle) gave a good idea of the lighting here with the headlights of a car on full beam shining at the rear of the aircraft.

So after a couple of hours wandering about on the Terrace in darkness with the camera and Tripod one of the security guys who wanders the Terrace came over at 7-50pm and indicated that it was time to leave as they were getting ready to close, so all in all this was a very successful day with lots of films taken in ideal winter conditions during the day and not a bad effort with the night shots either.
