Skies were clear all day and the temperture reached a comfortable 72F in the afternoon so not what would generally be expected on the East Coast during September and it certainly made up for the big disappointment of 2008 when the Vulcan Bomber that so many people had came to see failed to lift off due to the very poor visibility.
Leuchars is difficult to shoot the displaying aircraft as it is into the sun if you enter the Airfield so it can be hard going and as a result I have never been inside preferring instead to try my luck from outside the perimeter fence.
Finding angles to shoot with the sun behind is difficult other than on the Beach end where you can shoot Landers on short finals but that is not what I want to do at an Airshow I would rather be in the centre and try from where you have a better view of the action.
All of the photos below are shot at long distance with the majority being 400mm and cropped a little, this angle was more what I was looking for especially to shoot the Vulcan so I hope you find them of interest to view.
My next additions will be in a couple of weeks unless unless I catch something good locally and next time I will be including lots of photos from the Fairford Airshow taken in July 2009 so please look in again soon and I hope to have more new ones here on this page to view.
