Oasis Hong Kong 747

This Oasis Hong Kong 747 flew up from Gatwick for some Crew Training here at Prestwick and although it was Planned in and out for 3 hours it only did about 45 minutes in the circuit so I was caught out on it and didn't get to some of the other spots I had in mind for more footage.

Since I shot this the Airline went into Bankruptcy which was a shame as it did make occasionals visits to Prestwick for Training and brightened up the days it was here in the circuit.

Boeing Dreamlifter

One of Boeings Dreamlifters made a final visit of the year to Prestwick and fortunately it was a nice sunny Winters day so I took the oppertunity for some footage of it landing on Runway 13.

Flybe EMB195

This Flybe EMB195 came to Prestwick for some a lengthy spell of Crew Training and did lots of circuits on Runway 13 so I went to the top end of the "Mound" for a more elevated view and on this occasion it did a full stop and taxied back to the Holding Point again.

Atlas Air 747-200

These Atlas 747 Classics no longer operate into Prestwick due to the escalation of Fuel costs these days and the type only fly on US Military supply Flights, this was a reglar scheduled flight here.

During this period I was having trouble with wind noise but since then I have taken steps to cut the rumble noise by using a furry Microphone cover strapped to the top of my Camcorder and I have software that helps with this problem too.

Volga Dnepr An 124

This landing Antonov 124 is one of my longer Clips as it lands on Runway 13 and then backtracks for parking on the North side. Just after the AN124 landed a Cargolux also landed on Runway 13 so once the Cargolux had cleared the second end link the AN124 was able to enter the Runway again for taxiing, you can see the Cargolux 747 at the end of the Clip.

Gulfstream

This Gulfstream landed on Runway 13 but missed the first turnoff so it turned around on the Runway and taxied to parking, in this one you can see how good the "Mound" is for viewing.

This Clip is of the Volga Dnepr AN124 taxiing from the North side and departing from Runway 13 in fading light on an overcast Winters day.

Jet2 757

A Jet2 757 came to Prestwick this day for Crew Training and did a long spell of touch and goes plus the occasional full stop landing, this Clip is of one touch and go and then a full stop landing and taxi back to the Holding Point.

Evergreen 747

Two Clips of the Evergreen Supertanker landing at Prestwick in fading Winter light and taxiing to Stand for a fuel, this aircraft has visited lots of time on US Military "Reach" flights during the past couple of years.

Jet2 757

The final landing during a long spell of Crew Training as the 757 lands on Runway 13 and turns at the end to go to Parking on Apron Golf.

Kras Air IL96

This IL96 was my first go with the new HD Camcorder and at the time I didn't have a Tripod for it so had to steady it on top of my Monopod and it came out okay, not quite as steady as I would have liked but acceptable all the same.

One thing I did find right away was that my new Camcorders Zoom function was a lot more sensitive than my old one and a slight touch too firm and the Zoom would shoot in and out very quickly and that was why I didn't risk trying to record it's landing at Prestwick, it took some practice to avoid jerky Zooming and eventually I bought a plug in Remote lead that gives me a lot more control with Zooming.

This Clip is of the IL96 taxiing from the Freight Apron side side after it had offloaded it's Russian Naval passengers and was heading over to the North side for parking and a night stop.

Aerovis Antonov 12

I heard on my Scanner that an Antonov 12 was due so made my way to this spot to Camcorder it arriving as I was looking for the typical AN12 nose down approach which should look quite good from head on.

Another appeal from here was the long smoke trails this aircraft makes and sure enough from about 6 Miles out it left long smokey lines in the sky.

Atlas Air 747

An old Classic Atlas 747 as seen from an angle that looks down the Runway, even on a dull wind day like this it makes an very interesting sight as it roars overhead and lands on Runway 13.
