G-PBYA Catalina (Glasgow 18-9-05).

A Catalina came up from Duxford to Glasgow night stopping on the 17th for a flypast at Greenock to mark the 60th anniversary of the end of WW2 and this was it returning to the field about 30 minutes after it departed.

It went out from half way along the Runway so hopeless for photos which was disappointing particularly as I had brought along my Camcorder with the intention of shooting it going out on it's first flight and then taking some action to make up video clips on it's second.

The Catalina has a large wingspan so doesn't need much Runway length to get airbourne and as can be seen from this shot it doesn't have flaps, it came in very low on arrival which helped the shots a bit as it was a dull day and white on a grey sky does not look good.
